Time discrimination in psychosis: findings from a neuroimaging study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Previous functional neuroimaging studies have demonstrated a brain network responsible of time discrimination (TD) processes, which may play significant mediating role in other cognitive such as change detection and control. The study TD its dysfunction psychosis has become matter growing interest. We hypothesize that the impairment is involved both mechanisms deficit presented by patients. Objectives 1. To delimit regions TD. 2. examine patients diagnosed with psychosis. 3. sudy integrity white pathways 4. verify whether findings test performance predict neurocognitive profile Methods Participants included 20 (PSY group) 13 healthy controls (HC group). PSY group participants met remission criteria for 6 months prior to study. were interviewed sociodemographic information clinical assessments. They underwent detailed assesment using Measurement Treatment Research Improve Cognition Schizophrenia (MATRICS) Consensus Cognitive Battery (MCCB). Neuroimaging was performed on 3 Tesla MRI scanner. designed an experimental task including tool assess Oddbal (OD) paradigms control component. conducted under magentic resonance imaging (fMRI). used general linear model analysis individual data fMRI images random effects inference. Group differences DTI tested tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS). Results find statistically (fMRI) activity related (in HC), greater frontal cortical regions, insular cortex cerebellum. In group, functionality activation pattern networks are observed, although voxel clustering does not reach cluster significance limit when compared HC. Compared HC, fractional anisotropy (DTI) whole 21 specific regions. significantly lower scores six seven domains than well overall composite. correlated FA values groups interest MCCB scores. Retrospective study on structural neuroimaging in first-episode psychosis
Background. No consensus between guidelines exists regarding neuroimaging in first-episode psychosis. The purpose of this study is to assess anomalies found in structural neuroimaging exams (brain computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)) in the initial medical work-up of patients presenting first-episode psychosis. Methods. The study subjects were 32 patients aged 18-48 ye...
متن کاملfrom linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar
chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...
15 صفحه اولFunctional neuroimaging of duration discrimination on two different time scales.
Analyses of neural mechanisms of duration processing are essential for the understanding of psychological phenomena which evolve in time. Different mechanisms are presumably responsible for the processing of shorter (below 500 ms) and longer (above 500 ms) events but have not yet been a subject of an investigation with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). In the present study, we show ...
متن کاملFunctional neuroimaging in first-episode psychosis
Twenty-one inpatients (15 males/6 females) with an average age of 23.7 years, who had been diagnosed with FEP according to DSM-IV-TR (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition,Text Revision) criteria, were evaluated using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). SPECT was acquired after injection of Tc-HMPAO (Tc-hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime), before drug t...
متن کاملNeuroimaging in Iran: A Review
ABSTRACTNeuroimaging allows noninvasive evaluation of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the brain. It is widely used for diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment evaluation of neurological disorders as well as understanding functions of the brain in health and disease. Neuroimaging modalities include X-ray computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), single photon emis...
